Kate Garraway Has Not Been Dating Anyone New Since Husband’s Passing!
English broadcaster and journalist Kate Garraway lost her husband, Derek Draper, in January 2024 after a long battle with Covid-19 that led to health complications. However, Kate has chosen not to pursue a new romantic interest since his passing.
The ITV News journalist and her late husband, a political lobbyist and psychotherapist, spent almost two decades married.
The couple also had two children together, their eldest, Darcey, and their youngest, Billy, making them a happy family of four.
Following the demise of her husband, fans have speculated on any new relationship or connection in her life.
However, there is no information about Kate’s new romantic relationship as of now.
Kate Lost Her Loving Husband And Has Been Going Through Tough Times
Born on 4 May 1967, Kate Garraway is one of the most celebrated broadcasters in England. She currently works as a newsreader and co-anchor on ITV’s Good Morning Britain.
The journalist married her late husband, Derek Draper, in September 2005 in Camden, London.
However, in March 2020, Derek was diagnosed with COVID-19 in a critical condition and remained hospitalized for a significantly long period of time.
Although Derek recovered from the virus, the medical complications that came as a result of the coronavirus further caused his health conditions to decline.
As a result, Draper passed away in January of 2024 after his family rushed him to the hospital for cardiac arrest in December of 2023.
Kate announced the demise of her dear husband on her Instagram, saying:
I’m sad to have to tell you all that my darling husband Derek has passed away.
Kate has publicly shared how challenging it has been for her without her life partner and for their kids without their dad.
However, the broadcaster’s resilience in creating new memories for her kids and ensuring they never feel their dad’s absence has been nothing but commendable.
According to Daily Mail UK, one of Kate’s friends described her determination to get through these tough times with her children, saying:
Kate is determined to give her two children the experiences they missed out on during what has been an incredibly tough few years.
Further on Father’s Day, the newscaster shared a family picture with a heartfelt caption describing how they spent their first Father’s Day without Derek by visiting his grave, writing:
So yesterday was one of those days the kids & I knew would be tough . – the day when everyone wants to celebrate their daddy
Given Kate’s public expression of love for her late husband and her children, it seems unimaginable to see her in a new relationship so early since her husband’s passing.
Moreover, there has been no evidence of a new love interest in her life, so it’s safe to say that she has no new boyfriend as of lately.
