Latoya Ammons Reclaimed the Legal Custody of Her Three Kids In 2012
In November 2011, Latoya Ammons and her family, which included her three children and her mother, moved to a seemingly ordinary rental house in Gary, Indiana. Little did they know it would mark the start of the harrowing incidents in their lives.
Latoya Ammons shared her three children, daughter Airion Smith and sons Armani L. Ammons and Andrew R. Ammons, with the baby’s father, Mr. Andrew Smith.
Her three munchkins, Airion Smith, and her sons, Armani L. Ammons and Andrew R. Ammons, were 12, 9, and 8 years old, respectively, at the time of this incident.
Shortly after relocating to Indiana, Latoya, her mother, Rosa Campbell, and her three children started experiencing terrifying occurrences.
Some bizarre instances include hearing footsteps in the basement, doors opening on their own, and more.
As weeks passed, the disturbing activities didn’t stop but escalated. Latoya witnessed her children levitate above their beds, being thrown across rooms by unseen forces, and more.
In fact, the ordeal took a darker turn when her youngest son started showing signs of being possessed. He made unusual voices, allegedly growling, and even attempted to harm his brother.
The Netflix series The Deliverance is inspired by this haunting case starring Andra Day, Glenn Close, and more. It was released in theatres on August 16, 2024, and started streaming on August 30.
Meanwhile, Latoya’s whereabouts remain unknown. In fact, the director, Lee Daniels, himself, has talked to Latoya only once or twice at the initial stage of the process.
Latoya Ammons lost her son, Armani Lasean Ammons, after almost a decade of the horrific incident in their lives!
The mother of three, Latoya, bid her son, Armani L Ammons, farewell in her arms on October 8, 2021, at the age of 17. However, the prime reason behind his demise remains unknown.
He was a former New Life Worship Center member, attended Indiana Digital Learning Center, and was a great student.
Armani enjoyed playing basketball and was a family guy who loved spending time with family and loved ones.
A loving child, Armani always showed compassion and love for others. In 2021, he worked at Little Ceasars and Wendy.
Considering the severity, the Indiana Department of Child Services (DCS) had taken emergency custody of Latoya’s children without a court order and also grew suspicious of any child neglect.
On top of that, an unidentified caller suggested that Latoya might have some mental issues and that the kids were performing for their mother.
However, reports from the psychiatrist cleared the air that her mental health was sound. There were no concerns about her and the children’s mental stability.
Latoya regained custody of her children, and the family of four relocated to Indianapolis from Gary, Indiana, in 2013.
The DCS case was eventually dismissed as the family reported no further horrendous incidents. Following that, Armani lived in Indianapolis for nine years before taking his last breath.
Armani was survived by his mother, Latoya, father Andrew, sister Airion Smith, brother Andrew R. Ammons, and other loved ones.
